    How to use this paver base calculator

    The aggregate base is separate from bedding sand. Estimate each layer with its own thickness and product specification.

    Required depth depends on soil, drainage and traffic. Use the paving-system guidance rather than treating the example depth as a design.

    Volume = net area × depth × (1 + extra ÷ 100). Weight = volume × supplier density.

    Paver base planning questions

    How deep should I enter the paver base?

    Use the base thickness specified for the soil, drainage and expected traffic of your paving system. This calculator estimates the volume at that depth; it does not determine the required depth or substitute for installation guidance.

    Is paver base the same as the sand bed?

    No. Aggregate base and bedding sand are separate layers, with different thicknesses and products. Calculate them individually. If your dimensions describe the compacted base, confirm the ordering conversion for loose material with the supplier.
