A patio has more than one material layer

Start with the paver calculator for surface units and packages. Use the paver base calculator for the aggregate layer and the paver sand calculator for bedding. Enter the specified depth of each layer separately.

Jointing sand, edging, drainage and labor are additional items. A bedding-sand volume does not calculate polymeric joint fill. Keep actual unit dimensions and joints separate to avoid counting the joint width twice.

Walls and fences need their own takeoff

The retaining wall calculator counts courses and caps for a straight wall. The fence calculator counts a straight picket fence with an optional gate. Neither tool determines structural height, reinforcement, post depth or local approval requirements.
