    How to use this pea gravel calculator

    Rounded pea gravel can move underfoot. Decide on edging and product suitability before choosing a layer depth.

    Use the bag volume on the label; equal-weight bags can contain different volumes. Compare local bulk and bag prices for the same quantity.

    Pea gravel planning questions

    How many bags of pea gravel do I need?

    Divide the volume including your chosen allowance by the volume printed on one bag, then round up. For a 12 × 8 ft area at 2 inches deep with a 10% allowance, 17.6 cubic feet requires 36 bags of 0.5 cubic feet each. A bag weight alone does not give its volume.

    How does the pea gravel cost comparison work?

    Bag cost uses the whole bag count and your price per bag. Bulk cost uses the unrounded volume, your price per cubic yard or cubic meter, and the delivery charge you enter. Check supplier minimums, taxes and delivery increments separately before choosing an order.
