    How to use this asphalt calculator

    Enter the finished paving dimensions and the density supplied for the specified asphalt mix. Density is required before a weight can be shown.

    Calculate lifts separately when their mixes or thicknesses differ. The tool does not select a pavement design or compaction method.

    Asphalt planning questions

    How do I calculate asphalt for a driveway?

    Measure the paved area and the specified thickness of each lift. Calculate lifts separately when the mix or depth changes. This tool measures material volume and optional weight; it does not select the pavement thickness or design the base.

    Can I use the same density for asphalt millings?

    Do not assume the density of a compacted asphalt mix also describes loose recycled millings. Use the density and layer dimensions for the same material state. Supplier advice is needed to relate delivery volume to the finished layer.

    Does the asphalt driveway cost include labor?

    No. The cost fields compare material quantities with the prices and delivery charge you enter. Preparation, removal, machinery, labor, drainage, taxes and minimum-load charges require separate quotes. If your supplier prices asphalt per ton, convert that price to the displayed volume unit using the applicable mix density before entering it.
